I spent fifteen years in IT recruitment and delivery, and the whole time I watched the same thing play out: small businesses with real craft and loyal customers, stuck behind a weak online presence — and getting overcharged by agencies for the privilege of fixing it.

Breakwater is my answer to both. I'm a self-taught developer with a background in marketing and sales, so I can sit on the business side of the table and the build side at the same time — marrying SEO and strategy with design and real custom development. No bloated retainers, no jargon, no holding your website hostage. Just the honest digital foundation a small business actually needs to get found and trusted.

Home is Grand Rapids. The breakwater this studio is named for stands forty-five minutes west at Grand Haven — where the Grand River, the same one that runs through my city, finally meets the lake.
